My problem with the /namepet command
I had a Melandru's Stalker /petnamed Jaffar for a while, and when i got to Yak's Bend i decided to get a Snow Wolf. So i took the stalker to the tamer and when i charmed the wolf, his name automatically became Jaffar (tried even restarting the game between the two pets but didn`t help). Now how do i completely reset the name to the game default of Snow Wolf?
Are there other pet commands or just /namepet? You`ll ask why don`t i use /namepet Snow Wolf. Well i noticed that the "title" of the unnamed pets from some of the rangers changes as the pet gains levels (hearty, dire, playful, elder...) and i wanted to have that connection between those titles and the pet behaviour (defensive = hearty, offensive = dire and so on). But now that i can`t get rid of the /namepet variable, i`m not sure if my pet will get those titles. Any advice from the rangers out there? |

Its not titles, they just get the name Hearty Wolf & such. The effect (more health/offense) still applys.
Thats the impression I have gotten. Last edited by Jelloblimp; Jun 02, 2005 at 05:33 PM // 17:33.. |

Bagpuss was the name of a cat in a kids TV program when I was little. It's really not offensive.

Didn't you know that names in children's shows are the dirtiest of them all? The kids shows are full of inappropriate innuendo. Its a joke for the parents to get, and the children to miss. For example, the popular 70's show "HR - Puff 'n' Stuff" was really nothing more than a thinly veiled drug reference. And if you've seen the show, then you know what being on drugs feels like.

I have tried just typing /petname, and it says that the name has gotta be 3 characters or longer . Is there a way to remove the name, and use its origional default name?

Ok, I'm apparently missing something here. I was under the impression that a pet is a pet, regardless of what type of animal it is. Was I in the wrong? If not, why would Hearty, Aggressive, etc., make any kind of a difference? Do pet's level up differently based on how much you heal them, how much they attack or something?
If so, I wish I'd known that before I went and renamed my pet. Heh. Oh well, so it goes. You live and learn. |

Yes, in time unnamed pets automatically get prefixes according to the way you use them and once i found that out i thought it`s a nice thing to have. The problem is you can`t get rid of the name even if you change the pet, once you used the command you can never get those prefixes as far as i know.
I hope devs will add a command for reseting/deleting name completely, or make it reset when you give up the pet to get a new one. |

Ok, well that would have been good to know before I named my pet! Heh. So then, when your pet's name changes like that, do you know if that affects its abilities/stats in any way? Or is it just a label for your animal?
